Which of your track and field achievements are you most proud of, and why?
The track and field achievement I’m most proud of is a very tough question for me. The reason being is because winning Olympic Gold in London is a great accomplishment, but so is running the World Record in the same season. This question has haunted me because it is a double-edged sword. I guess if I had to choose one I would choose Olympic gold since I will always be Olympic Champion whereas the world record can be broken and I won’t have it forever.
What is your greatest strength as a track and field athlete?
I believe that my greatest strength as a track and field athlete is my motivational drive that I have for the sport. I wasn’t always the best in what I did. It took a numerous amount of years for me to achieve all that I have in this sport. And that’s is because I never lost my drive or WILL to be the best one day.
What kind of impact do you want to make on the community through the Georgia Track Club?
I want to impact Georgia track club in anyway I can to motivate the community from children to adults. I feel that all things are achievable through hard work and dedication if given the opportunity. Where there is opportunity there is hope and I will do whatever it takes to give back as much as I can to Georgia since it is where I was raised. From fund raising to motivational speaking, even just the presence of someone who has made an impact on the world is enough to trigger a domino effect and it would be nice to be apart of something so moving.
